TIDWORTH based soldiers will provide burial parties for the re-burial of hundreds of British and Australian First World War dead found in a mass grave in northern France.
A party of 13 from 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers will be on duty at a new cemetery in Fromelles until 12 February.
“It is a real honour for us to be taking part in this unique and historic task,” said Captain Matt Clarke, officer in charge of the Fusilier contingent. We feel privileged to be finally giving our fellow Fusiliers, who sacrificed everything for our freedom, a fitting burial.”
