UKIP hopeful named

THE North West Hants branch of the UK Independence Party confirmed its choice of Stanley Oram as the parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming General Election.

Mr Oram said: “This is an unusually early confirmation of a candidate but with the change in the law introduced last year (just for this year), regarding election expenditure limits from the 1 January, there is no virtue, as there was in previous elections, in deferring the confirmation of the candidate.

“The Labour Party, probably with the connivance of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, have, in my view, introduced this change in order to restrict all spending on elections because of their own parlous financial state.”

“Because all the long established political parties are finding it more and more difficult to fund their election activities, it is almost certain that during the next Parliament state funding of political parties will be introduced. It is almost equally certain that none of them will mention this in the run up to the election.

“Another near certainty is that the funding will be directly related to the number of votes cast at this coming election.”
