DOG fouling has become so bad in parts of Ludgershall that Sarsen Housing was forced to cancel a community event in the town last Friday because of the mess.

The housing organisation has been running play sessions at the end of Coronation Road on Fridays and will now be holding a community consultation exercise in the area today to see what can be done about the issue.

John McConnell, who runs miles around Ludgershall every week with his dog Max, says the problem is getting worse.

“It is just everywhere and getting worse as people are just not being considerate,” he said.

The worst areas are behind Andover Road, Fleming Close, and even the new footway from the Academy to the railway bridge is being affected by the problem.

John always takes bags out with him on his walks in case Max leaves a mess but has felt so appalled that he has been clearing up after others.

The council’s dog warden has been informed about the matter, say Sarsen, and he will be visiting the area.
