POLICE in Tidworth say they will continue to seize motorcycles being ridden without tax, insurance and number plates on public routes on Salisbury Plain.

Officers seized a second machine in as many weeks on 11 October, when a Kawasaki 125 being ridden off-road by a 17-year-old aroused suspicion at a tank crossing on the A338 road near Tidworth.

“Some people are under the misapprehension that they do not need motor insurance or even number plates when they are using these routes, but they do,” said Sector Inspector Christian Lange.

“They are exactly the same as any other public highway.”

In this latest instance the vehicle was seized and will only be returned when all the paperwork is in order.

The rider will also be reported for prosecution for being unlicensed and without insurance.
