A VALUABLE bronze memorial statue of an eagle has been stolen from the grounds of the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop – and most probably melted down for scrap.
The statue, worth £9,000, was dedicated in April last year, and was taken on Friday night.
It had been paid for by Beverley Fairey in memory of her test pilot husband John Fairey of Bossington Manor near Houghton, who died in a plane crash in 2009.
Read the full story, including Mrs Fairey's reaction, in Friday's paper.
