Business over breakfast
The Andover Mutual Business Group meets monthly, to network with its members and guests while discussing business matters, over breakfast.
The MBG is also concerned with community matters and in March welcomed Tony Richmond, of the Alabaré Christian Care Centres, who talked about their work on the Test Valley Foyer project.
Alabaré helps young homeless people, by providing care centres in an area stretching from Andover and Romsey to Bristol. Centres such as the Andover centre, where 18 young, homeless people can stay, with a roof over their heads for up to two years. The centres fill a gap, as local councils are not required to house single homeless people, up to age 25.
Whilst in the centres they are helped to overcome the problems that caused their homelessness, enabling them to get their lives back on track. They may have become homeless for a number of reasons such as broken families, addictions, mental health problems, or abuse. Alabaré is funded by grants from statutory bodies and trusts and private donations. Alabaré also runs The Junction in Andover where youngsters can drop in and get information on a variety of topics.
The Mutual Business Group's monthly breakfast meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month. The next is on 20 May at the Brewer's Fayre travel inn. For information ring Darren Crannis, 01264 721680.
