A WOMAN suffered a swollen face and an injured wrist after being robbed near Cricketers Way last night.

The woman was walking through Bedser Square, under the archway towards Crickets Way, at around 8.45pm when she felt someone grab her wrist.

When she turned around a man grabbed her purse, causing her to fall against the wall. The man, and another man who was with him, both ran off in the direction of Bedser Square.

One of the men is described as white, aged in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins and of average build. He was wearing a black puffa type jacket and a dark blue or black baseball cap with a logo on it. The other man is described as being similar of similar build and dress but not wearing a hat.

The victim suffered a sore wrist and a sore and swollen face.

Detective Constable Alex Hall, said: "I am appealing for anyone who has any information about this incident to come and speak to us. There may have been people in the area at the time of the incident walking their dogs or passing by. Were you in the area? Did you see what happened or did you see these men? If you have any information, please get in touch."
