AN ANDOVER man who attempted to steal from two businesses has been jailed for six months.

Steven Anthony Allen, of Kennett Court, pleaded guilty to two charges of trespassing with the intent to steal during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court last week.

The 27-year-old targeted Union Street salon Hair and Flair on 17 April, before attempting to steal from Pets at Home three days later.

He also admitted a charge of theft, relating to a money bag he stole from a person in Andover on 5 April.

Allen was given two consecutive 12 week prison sentences as punishment.

He was given a third 12 week sentence to run concurrently, meaning his sentence totals 24 weeks.

Allen was also ordered to pay £10 in compensation to the victim of the money bag theft.
