POLICE have launched an investigation after a man was taken to hospital after an attempted robbery in Andover.

The 21-year-old was walking in Colenzo Drive, around 12.23am yesterday morning, when he was approached by three males.

The group attempted to rob the man, but he managed to get away.

However the victim sustained a wound to his hand during the incident.

He was taken to the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke before being transferred to Salisbury District Hospital.

Two of the three males have been described as white, and the other one as black.

All three were described as being aged in their teens and wearing dark clothing with either balaclavas or scarves to cover their faces.

Detective constable Chris Phillips said: “While this is a rare occurrence for Andover, it was a nasty assault which led to a man being taken to hospital.

“We would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing males with their faces covered in the Colenzo Drive/Pilgrims Way area that night.”
