A 21-YEAR-OLD who assaulted a police officer on New Year’s Day has been given a community order.
Riley McCormick, of Pilgrims Way, Andover, pleaded guilty to charges of causing a police officer harassment, alarm or distress; and assaulting them.
McCormick appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 16 January after the incident which took place in Southampton on 1 January.
He was sentenced with a community order to carry out 40 hours of supervised unpaid work in the next 12 months and was ordered to pay £50 compensation.
