AN attempted street robbery took place on Andover High Street on Friday.

Police are appealing for information into the incident which occurred near the Blue Onion Cafe between 9.35am and 10am.

A 40-year-old man was walking along High Street when another man barged into him and pulled at his laptop bag.

The victim was able to hold on to his bag and the other man fell to the ground before running away.

The man is described as being aged in his 40s, having a beard and wearing a blue jacket with the hood up.

PC Bronwen Matthews-King said: “This took place on a Friday morning when a lot of people would have been in the town centre.

“We want to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

“In particular, we would like to hear from two males, believed to be customers at the café, who checked with the victim to see if he was ok. They may have seen what happened.”
