SCHOOLS in Tidworth and Ludgershall will see their funding increase by £97 per pupil as the result of a Government announcement, says local MP Claire Perry.

She says the £390 million cash boost is the biggest step towards fairer schools funding in a decade. The schools budget in Wiltshire will increase by £5.7m, making a real difference to children in the Devizes Constituency.

Claire Perry said: “Labour failed to address the unfairness in our funding system, which penalised many rural areas, and meant that our local schools haven’t received the funding they deserved.

“That’s why I welcome this cash boost. It means our schools will get the resources they are entitled to and will help improve the quality of education for all local children.

“This new money is part of our longterm economic plan to help all young people to have the best schools and skills so that they can succeed in life.”
