THE children of Rookwood’s nursery, prepreparatory and preparatory schools took part in a samba football workshop.

Run by Arne Brattland of MED Music Services, the carnival of colour and music incorporated all the excitement surrounding this year’s football World Cup in Brazil, into a workshop celebrating the very best of samba music.

The children learned all about the various countries that took part in this year’s main football event, the significance of the design of the footballs used, the history behind the official mascot and the many and varied instruments used to create samba music.

Under Arne’s tutelage, the children became the sambistas and experienced the excitement and physical impact of performing in a percussion ensemble.
