STAFF and students have come together to celebrate the recordbreaking success of its former Year 11 pupils.

The GCSE achievements of scores of Test Valley School pupils were honoured at an annual presentation evening.

This winter’s ceremony was all the more special after an impressive 69 per cent of pupils collected five or more A*-C grades, including English and mathematics, in their exams last summer.

In a record-breaking year for the school 83 per cent of students achieved A*-C grades in mathematics, 78 per cent received A*-C grades in English and 69 per cent picked up two or more A*-C grades in science.

All pupils received their GCSE certificates on the night and were given the opportunity to share their memories of Test Valley School, while also talking about what they had gone on to do since leaving in June.

The event culminated in the presentation of 28 special awards and a talk from guest of honour Mark Kemp, who discussed his journey from successful entrepreneur to local dairy farmer.

Head teacher Louisa Hiscock said: “We always look forward to this event when we welcome the pupils back with their families to celebrate their success.

“This year was undoubtedly a very special evening with the pupils having achieved such superb GCSE results and there was much to celebrate.

“I am very proud of their achievements and also very grateful for having such a strong and committed staff working with and supporting all our pupils to do so well,” she added.
