A SECONDARY school in Andover is inviting former and current students and residents to join them in their 50th anniversary celebration this weekend.

Harrow Way Community School is set to hold a summer fete on Saturday, July 8 between 1pm and 5pm.

No matter whether visitors were a student of the 60s, 90s, noughties or now the school promises an afternoon of fun family entertainment and a trip or two down memory lane.

Head, Michael Serridge, said: “This is a very special year in our history which we would like to celebrate with students and teachers from our past through to those still at Harrow Way.

“We have created a Harrow Way 50 Facebook page and it’s been wonderful to read all the comments and memories being shared by former students who seem to genuinely look back on their time here with huge fondness.

“For 50 years the school has seen thousands of students pass through and I hope many can join us for this celebration. Who knows we may even see some renowned teaching faces from the past too.”

A Harrow Way 50 exhibition will showcase the headteachers’ log from 1967 to 1988, photos, a brief history of the school and include a copy of the specially produced Harrow Way 50 Newsletter.

There will be much to keep young and old entertained with activities including giant inflatables, climbing, stalls and face painting.

Musical entertainment will come from Jane Deer, Maddison Douch, Meggie Hurts and the Harrow Way Allstar Band.

Entry is free.
