PUPILS got creative to come up with their own dishes at a pub.

Year 10 catering pupils from Winton Community Academy were invited to visit the kitchen at the Queen Charlotte, in London Road, Andover, by manager Victoria Thorpe.

Pupils sampled foods and looked at dish presentation before they had to come up with a dish, cost it, and design the presentation with the prize of going on the venue’s menu.

Victoria said: “It was fantastic to see the students getting enthusiastic about food and enjoying creating their dishes. It was so difficult to pick a winner, so I decided to choose three dishes to showcase on our specials board.”

Year 10 pupil Harrison Escudier said: “It was a new experience that as a catering GCSE student I will not forget.

"This made me think more practically about what I am going to do in my future lessons.”
