FINANCES at the trust that runs Andover and Winchester hospitals are tight' - but the new chief executive still intends to make a surplus at the end of the year.
Mr Martin Wakeley said: "It's tight. We are £400,000 over spent in month seven, but there are things we are putting in place that mean we should end the year with a surplus. That's certainly my intention."
There were areas where Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHA Trust needed to improve efficiency.
"Having looked at the fundamentals of the business we should not be having financial problems but we do," he said. "My job is sorting that."
