SHEPHERDS Spring Infant School has received a fitting farewell in its last term by being awarded level 2 in the Rights-Respecting School Award.
The school achieved level 1 in July last year but is one of only eight schools across the country to obtain level 2.
This has been a huge boost to the school which is permanently closing its doors at the end of term - it has kept pupils focused on high achievements in their final days.
All 25 infant pupils were interviewed for the level 2 award and spoke about worldwide issues including recycling, Fairtrade and global citizenship.
The children were also captured on camera in a short film to be shown at a conference about the award for the Depart-ment for Child-ren, School and Families.
"We were delighted to receive this award, especially in our final term," said headteacher Trisha Cook.

"It gave us something to focus on as even though we knew we were closing we were determined not to let it get us down and to still achieve good quality results.
"The children absolutely loved taking part in getting the level 2 award, especially being filmed.
"The idea of trying to get this award is to show we are not beaten and although we're closing soon we are still keeping our high standards and expecting the pupils to do as well as they can. It really is a fitting farewell in the final term of Shepherds Spring Infant School."
