THE green light has been given to build a BMX track in Daniel Park, Whitchurch.

The Development Control Committee wasted no time at their meeting on Wednesday 20 August in voting unanimously in favour of the plans.

The plan is to construct the BMX track on the open space next to the skate park which is already in place at the park.

Following the successful outcome Whitchurch councillor Keith Watts said: "I am very pleased that the committee approved this long awaited facility for Whitchurch.

"This was asked for several years ago by people in Whitchurch and it was necessary to keep pushing for the project to make progress.

"After the successes in the Olympic Games there will be a surge of interest in all cycling sports and the Whitchurch area will benefit from a brand new BMX track.

"The BMX track will be paid for entirely out of contributions for leisure facilities made by developers of new housing in Whitchurch."
