A TEENAGER was robbed on a footbridge over the A339.

The 17-year-old was walking from Oakridge to Popley over the footbridge leading to Shakespeare Road, between 5.30pm and 6pm on December 10, when he felt a sudden pull on the plastic CEX carrier bag in his right hand. He turned to see two youths, one holding his bag and the other aiming a punch. The bag ripped open and the offenders ran off with its contents – leads and a power cable for an X Box 360.

Both offenders were white, slim, 5ft 7-8ins tall and aged about 18. One wore a black puffy coat over a black hoodie with a black scarf covering the lower part of his face. The other, who threw the punch, wore a dark blue hoodie under a cream-coloured jacket. He had short brown hair and a thin brown moustache.

Basingstoke Detective Constable Paul Smith said: “Robbery is a particularly cowardly and nasty crime which often leaves the victim with lasting effects. If anyone knows anything which may assist the police to catch these offenders, please call me (on 101), to ensure that they do not get the opportunity to spoil anybody else’s Christmas.”
