A TALENTED student hairdresser is hoping to show off her skills and come out on top in a national competition.
Daniella Cocomazzi is through to the finals of the Blackpool Winter Gardens Hair Festival, which attracts the cream of the crop of hairdressers from across the world.
Daniella, a NVQ level 3 hairdressing student at Harrow College, in Middlesex, is hoping to impress judges at the contest on March 18 with her Moulin Rouge-inspired hair style in the ladies’ avant-garde category.
The contest encourages entrants to let their imagination run wild, and the 17-year-old has incorporated hair extensions, backcombing, colours and accessories into her design to help her entry stand out.
Daniella is now working hard to improve and extend her design before the final, where she will have just 45 minutes to create a potentially winning hairstyle in front of a panel of judges.
She will be using her cousin, Niki Christofides, as her model.
The student, of Lapin Lane, Hatch Warren, Basingstoke, said: “I’m more nervous than excited, and either way it will be an experience.
“I’ll be doing the same design for the final as I did in the heat but will be making it bigger and extending it – I’m going to make it massive.
“People come from all over the world to compete in the final so the competition will be tough.”
Daniella is set to complete NVQ level 3 within the next three months and hopes to join a successful hairdressers after finishing the course.
She said: “I’ve always been interested in hairdressing and want to be a hairdresser – it’s something I really love doing.”
