Crooks targeted Odiham cash machine yesterday morning
1:44pm Wednesday 13th February 2013 in Basingstoke By Helen Morton
CROOKS tried to steal a cash machine in Odiham yesterday morning using a stolen truck.
A stolen Ford Ranger truck, which was taken in early January, was used in a failed attempt to steal a cash machine from the Texaco garage at Dunleys Hill in Odiham, at about 2.30am yesterday morning.
The truck, which was stolen from outside a farm house in Lyde Green, Rotherwick, Hook, overnight between January 2 and January 3 was found alight in Ridge Lane, Rotherwick, later that day.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and information about the attempted theft.
Detective Constable Matt Dennis said: “Were you in the Dunleys Hill area of Odiham in the early hours of Tuesday, February 12?
“Did you see a Ford Ranger near the Texaco garage or anyone acting suspiciously?
“It is possible that the offenders were disturbed at the garage by passing vehicles, so I am really keen to speak to anyone who may have been in that area at the time.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Dennis at Aldershot Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
