Ford Mondeo flew off A34 at Bullington Cross, Hampshire

A DRIVER received life-threatening injuries this morning, after his car became airborne and crashed at Bullington Cross.

Police report that at around 5.40am a blue Ford Mondeo travelling south on the A34 came off the carriageway, became airborne and landed on its roof on the slip road underneath the A34.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Birmingham, had to be freed from the vehicle by fire crews.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his head and spine and remains there in a critical but stable condition.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. Closures and diversions were put in place and lifted around 11am.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Ford Mondeo beforehand.
