STAFF at Basingstoke hospital would recommend the hospital as a good place to work or be treated as a patient, according to the national NHS Staff Survey, published today.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, HHFT, which also runs Andover War Memorial Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester ranked better than average compared to other similar NHS trusts in three areas.
Staff at the trust agreed that their role makes a difference to patients, that hand washing materials were always available and that they had equality and diversity training.
Chief operating officer, Donna Green, said “It is a reflection of the dedication of our staff that during a period of change and increased national pressure on hospital services, they stayed focused on patient care.
“It is a testimony that so many of our staff would recommend Hampshire Hospitals as a good place to work and to be treated. “ HHFT scored higher than average for the amount of staff reporting that they had experienced violence, harassment, bullying or abuse from patients, relatives or the public in the last twelve months.
There was a slight increase in the amount of staff saying they felt stressed and that they were working extra hours, although this was still below average in comparison to other trusts.
