BARGAIN-hunters in Tadley put their hands in their pockets to help support homeless cats.
The Basingstoke and District Cats Protection group held its spring jumble sale at the Ambrose Allen Centre, in Franklin Avenue.
Items for sale included paper and hardback books, home-made jams and marmalades, children’s board games and postcards.
There was also a chance to meet Louis, a six-year-old chocolate point Siamese cat, who was rescued at 20-weeks-old and raised by group volunteer Caroline McKane.
Money raised from the day will go towards the cost of the rehoming service and medical and neutering costs.
Branch co-ordinator Hilary Wells said the money was more important than ever with the current poor financial climate.
She said: “In the last couple of years, we have found people want to hand back their cats because they are moving properties or because of financial problems.
“So these events are very important because we need money to keep going.”
