FOUR men have been charged with a string of burglaries and robberies, including four that took place in Basingstoke.
The men are Andrew Smith, 27, formerly of Broadwater Close, Staines, Surrey, Stewart Last, 28, formerly of Filmer Road, Windsor, Berkshire, Richard Loveridge, 27, of Ditton Road, Datchet, Berkshire and Lee Fitzgerald, 37, of Perrycroft Road, Windsor, Berkshire.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery for 41 offences that took place between August 4, 2011 and February 8 last year.
The allegations include a house burglary and theft of vehicle in Church Lane, Old Basing, on August 5, 2011 and stealing cigarettes from the Co-op store in Winklebury Way, Winklebury on November 30, 2011.
They are also accused of a robbery at Tesco Express, in Higher Mead, Lychpit, on December 29, 2011, and a burglary at the Co-op in Blackdown Close, Buckskin on February 7 last year.
The alleged crimes in the conspiracy charges took place across Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Wiltshire.
The four men will appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday, March 25 for a preliminary hearing.
