Milestones is streets ahead
A BASINGSTOKE museum is officially among the country’s top tourist attractions.
Milestones Museum, at the Basingstoke Leisure Park, has been named in the Visit England Quality Assurance Scheme, after passing a mystery inspection.
Attractions can only join the scheme if an experienced assessor feel they offer a “high-quality day out” which is measured against strict criteria.
Following a visit to Milestones, the inspector described the museum as “paradise for children”.
Councillor Keith Chapman, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for culture, recreation and countryside, said: “This is the first time that the museum has applied to join this prestigious scheme and I’m delighted that it has now been recognised as one of England’s top attractions.
“We’ve always known that Milestones offers visitors a great day out.”
Sheila Hennings, manager for Milestones Museum, added “We strive to ensure that every person who visits Milestones enjoys their day, and takes away great memories of this extraordinary place.”
During the school holidays, Milestones is holding a Teddy Time event with children invited to bring their bears for teddy-related activities, including making accessories and riding in a hot air balloon.
