Sex beast Paul Kent found guilty of multiple rapes
6:28pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in Basingstoke
A “DANGEROUS sexual predator” has been found guilty of raping and abusing a string of women in Basingstoke.
Paul Kent, of Maybrook, Chineham did not react as the jury at Winchester Crown Court returned their remaining verdicts this morning, finding him guilty of 20 offences including counts of rape and sexual offences against women.
He was acquitted of 10 other counts.
Judge Guy Boney warned the 37-year-old mechanic that he faced a “substantial prison sentence” adding: “You have been convicted of a large number of very serious offences.”
Ellie Fargin, crown advocate for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wessex, said: “Paul Kent is a dangerous sexual predator who has been manipulating, controlling and raping adult women as well as grooming and abusing young girls aged between14 to 36, over a period of eight years.
“The jury at Winchester Crown Court heard how he groomed and sexually abused two girls under 16. He went on to rape one of these two girls when she was 16 years old. The jury also listened to disturbing and graphic evidence that this was happening at the same time he was manipulating, controlling and committing offences of rape on women. The rapes were often accompanied with threats of violence and he forced the women to perform degrading and humiliating acts.”
She thanked the victims for their “tremendous courage to come forward and give evidence in court.”
