Oakley play park graded "high risk" by inspector
A PLAY park in Oakley has been graded as “high risk” by an inspector who assessed the equipment.
Oakley and Deane Parish Council heard that the multi-play unit in Avon Road had received its second “high-risk” grading.
Parish clerk Ian Pryce told councillors that following the first report, which pointed out the danger of sharp edges, he had removed the offending items from the piece of equipment – the bottom step of a log trail. But he said the inspector then took issue with the fact that the second step up was too high, and there was a risk that a child could fall.
He asked the council if they wanted him to cordon off the park, but councillors unanimously responded to keep it open. Councillor Ian Ellison said: “We don’t agree with the playground inspector.”
