WILDLIFE-themed activities entertained families at the first meeting of a new group.
Natural Basingstoke held its inaugural event at Rooksdown Community Centre, assisted by Rooksdown residents, who were keen to encourage nature awareness.
Activities included a nature trail and pond dipping, as well as the chance to look at butterflies and birds of prey up close.
Natural Basingstoke has been set up as the association of voluntary conservation groups in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane, supporting the 15 volunteer wildlife conservation groups in the area.
Ken MacKenzie, chair of Natural Basingstoke, said: “Our new organisation is made up of the 15 local wildlife groups, looking after a wide range of natural green spaces throughout the Basingstoke and Deane Borough area.
“We hope to encourage local people to get involved in conservation activities and to raise awareness of the great range of wildlife found within our area.”
