THE roof of the borough council's Civic Offices was damaged during the strong winds on Saturday night.
The Deanes building was cordoned off this morning after a six-foot section of the roof caved in.
A drinks reception, organised for those attending the Holocaust Memorial Day this morning, at the War Memorial, was cancelled as a result.
The damage has not affected council business, and staff have still been allowed to work inside the building.
The strong winds also affected train services on Saturday evening.
A tree on the line at Micheldever resulted in cancelled services between Eastleigh and Basingstoke.
Delays were also reported between Salisbury and Basingstoke, lasting until around 10.30pm on Saturday evening.
South West Trains announced on Twitter that passengers with tickets dated for travel on January 25 would be accepted for travel on services the following day.
