A BASINGSTOKE mum became the envy of thousands of women at a concert when she was serenaded on stage by Gary Barlow.

Leanne Parish had a dream come true when the Take That superstar chose her out of thousands of fans at his concert in Bournemouth to sit at his piano while he sang A Million Love Songs.

The 35-year-old mother-of-one had devised a plan ahead of the show at Bournemouth International Centre, on April 23, to try to persuade Gary to pick her to go on stage – and it worked.

Leanne had a banner printed at her place of work – Impact Design and Print, in Crockford Lane, Basingstoke – which is co-owned by her husband.

She said: “I knew that Gary was picking someone out at his concerts so I made a banner at work which said ‘pick me’ and had a flower and smiley face on it.”

But Leanne, who has been a fan of Gary since she was a teenager, never imagined that her plan would actually work, and she was stunned when the singing legend signalled for her to join him on stage at the major concert venue.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it. I’d had quite a lot of wine and I dropped the banner on the floor. They were telling me to hurry up.

“I went straight up and he was waiting for me. I went into a bit of a shock. He led me to the piano and there was a stool with his face on it. I sat down and he sang A Million Love Songs.”

She added: “I thought: ‘this is amazing – my plan worked!’.”

At the end of the song, Gary took Leanne in his arms for a dance. A friend of Leanne filmed the entire serenade, and Leanne can be seen in the footage cheekily pinching Gary’s bottom – much to the shock of the audience.

But Leanne told The Gazette: “He told me to grab his bum!”

Leanne added: “I literally can’t believe it happened – and now I’m meant to carry on with normal life!”
