PLANS to build 130 new homes in Chineham have been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Pal Properties Limited has submitted an outline planning application to the borough council in a bid to build 130 new homes on land at the edge of Hampshire International Business Park, in Crockford Lane, Chineham.

As previously reported by The Gazette, a public consultation was held in Chineham in July where residents could have a close look at the scheme, which originally proposed 150 new homes.

According to Pal Properties, the land being proposed for the new site has been marketed as office space, but has received little or no interest to date.

The revised proposal will see a mix of 104 houses and 62 apartments and 240 car parking spaces for those living at the development if the plans are approved.

The application says: “The masterplan is designed to be flexible and would allow a variety in possible mix between houses and apartments.

“However, in this area of Basingstoke, being that it is edge of town and not town centre, we believe the mix is likely to be more in favour of houses than apartments.

“The amount of development proposed seeks to ensure that the project is both economically viable and would appeal to a range of interested future purchasers.”

A decision on the application is set to be made by the borough council before January 28.
