A TRUST which supports local charities has announced details of a new three-year £185,000 bursary for parents struggling to pay for extra benefits to round off their child’s education.

Greenham Common Trust has launched the fund to cover tuition fees and musical instruments for young talent.

For many, additional music lessons are a luxury they cannot afford. The new Music Bursary Fund aims to provide that support for parents and will give seven to 11-year-olds in West Berkshire, which includes areas such as Burghfield, the chance to pick up an instrument for the first time.

Chris Boulton, chief executive at Greenham Common Trust, said: “This new bursary is a great example of the trust’s ethos, and how we can support talented children.”

The programme will be delivered by Berkshire Music Hub partners, Berkshire Maestros and Southern Sinfonia, to pupils selected by headteachers of West Berkshire’s primary schools.
