A SUSPECT in a Basingstoke burglary was arrested in Wiltshire yesterday after leaving a trail of damage in a cross-border police chase.
Wiltshire officers were called at 11.10am to help catch a driver who had given their colleagues in Hampshire the slip.
The police helicopter was used to track the driver of a red Peugeot as he sped through Salisbury and Amesbury, after initially being tracked from an incident in Winklebury, Basingstoke.
The driver hit a number of parked cars in Amesbury during the chase.
The 33-year-old abandoned the car on a footpath between The Drove and Holders Road, in Amesbury, and then ran off.
However he was caught on nearby wasteland and arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated joy-riding, drug-driving, and dangerous driving.
