TRIBUTES have been paid to a "loving son, brother and father" who died after a crash on a Hampshire motorway.

Tony Smith, 37, was killed after he got out of his car on the M3 and was hit by a car.

Police say Tony, of Firtree Way, Southampton, was driving a Mitsubishi ASX4 which was involved in a crash between junction eight and nine at about 6.30am on Monday.

He collided with a Skoda Superb and after this happened he got out of his vehicle and was struck by a Citroen Berlingo.

His family said: "Tony was a loving son, brother, father and friend who was always happy to help others when they were in need.

"You could always find Tony in a coffee shop as he loved his coffee and he always loved going to restaurants to eat all his favourite foods.

"He will be terribly missed by all his family, friends and workmates.

"In loving memory of one of the best men."

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
