Festival Place - Basingstoke
A TEENAGER has been fined for damaging a £1,000 hanging ceiling figure inside a Basingstoke shopping centre.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, damaged the figure at Festival Place on 9 February.
The 17-year-old appeared in Basingstoke Youth Court last week where he was fined £25 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
However due to a lack of means the teenager, from Andover, will be ordered to pay back the £40 in instalments of £5 per week.
He was not ordered to pay compensation as the court deemed the ceiling figure would be covered by the company's insurance.
