Hairy Bikers go down a treat with fans

TWO celebrity chefs drew quite a crowd in Basingstoke when they were signing copies of their new book.

Simon King and Dave Myers – otherwise known as The Hairy Bikers from the BBC cooking programme of the same name – dropped in to Waterstone’s, in Festival Place, to meet their north Hampshire fans and sign copies of their book Mums know best: The Hairy Bikers Family Cookbook.

The friendly, hirsute duo – who proved popular visitors at the shopping centre last summer when they held cooking demonstrations as part of Hampshire Food Festival – did not leave until they had signed every book for well over 100 patient fans.

Annabel Martin, manager at the Waterstone’s store, said: “Dave and Si are two of the happiest people you could meet and no wonder – they're doing what they love for a job and on motorbikes!

“We were pleased to see them in Festival Place again and the event went really well.

“They stayed until everyone got their book signed.

“We sold just shy of 200 copies which was great and the book will be a perfect gift for Mother's Day!”
