Police release more information in murder case

POLICE investigating the brutal murder of grandmother Georgina Edmonds have released more details about the case in the hope of catching her killer.

The 77-year-old widow of Basingstoke coffee merchant Harry Edmonds, was tortured, stabbed and killed at her home in Kiln Lane, Brambridge, near Eastleigh on January 11 this year.

Detectives have released new information about a number of vehicles they are trying to trace that were seen in Kiln Lane on the days of the murder.

These vehicles are:

* A black 4x4 parked by the cemetery or bridge

* A grey / silver Rover 416

* A small white van parked by the cemetery

* A silver 4 x4 parked by the cemetery or bridge

* A lime green estate car seen in The Close (off Kiln Lane)

* A grey Volvo estate

* A light coloured Fiesta parked by the bridge

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Barton, said: "This remains an active investigation and we still need help from members of the public.

"We still believe that the community holds vital information, no matter how small or irrelevant you think it might be, it could be crucial to our investigation."

He added: "This was a despicable crime committed against a vulnerable member of our community so please work with us and help catch the person responsible."
