Romsey's festive street lights were joined by 350 lanterns on Friday night.

The lantern parade round the town centre, led by Romsey Mayor Ian Richards and Test Valley Mayor Janet Whiteley, was part of the annual late night shopping event.

The paper lanterns had been made by schools and community groups around the area.

After the parade crowds gathered in the Market Place to await the arrival of Santa, who was again unable to find a safe landing spot for his sleigh in Romsey.

This year he was rescued from the first floor of the town hall by firefighters and escorted to his grotto in Bradbeers.
