ROMSEY Abbey and the town’s White Horse Hotel have joined  forces to stage a wedding exhibition this Sunday (February 16)).

“Your Romsey Wedding” is the title of the event, which is aimed at promoting local services and suppliers including dress shops, chauffeurs, stationers, cake makers and florists.

Romsey Abbey will welcome visitors for a cat walk display of wedding dresses and there will be music from the Abbey choir and Romsey Choral Society plus a bell-ringing demonstration.

Photographs showing previous abbey weddings will be on display.

Rev Tim Sledge and his clergy team will be on hand to offer advice and to take wedding bookings.

Mr Sledge said: “Whilst many couples prefer not to get married in a church, there are many who do, and there are also many who don’t think they can, but can. We want to say ‘yes’ to them and Romsey Abbey offers a stunning venue for the wedding of many couples’ dreams or a smaller, more intimate service in one of its side chapels. We want to present the best that Romsey can offer for a wedding from heaven.”

A horse-drawn carriage will transport visitors between the Abbey and The White Horse, where canapés and welcome drinks will be served.

Sarah Bingham, events manager at the hotel,e said “The White Horse is the perfect location in Romsey for your wedding day. We are delighted to partner with the Abbey to create ‘Your Romsey Wedding’.

The event runs from 1pm to 5pm.
