Romsey Youth Choir were the toast of the Portsmouth Music Festival on Saturday– taking three trophies and being named the judge’s favourite performers.
The choir, under the direction of Marion Maxey, were awarded two distinctions and an honours – the latter was the highest honour at the festival and the only one received on the day.
The choir was awarded the Florence Greaves Cup for their performances of A Little Help from My Friends, by the Beatles and Only Time, by Enya, in the popular song category and the Bullin Rose Bowl for their renditions of On My Own and I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables, in the songs from the shows section.
Adjudicator, Angela Rowley, awarded the choir the Bertram Bradshaw Trophy for the choir that most impressed her throughout the course of the day.
The choir’s next concert is in Romsey Abbey on June 27 and they will be back at the abbey on June 11 as part of a charity concert in aid of Jane Scarth House.
