It is now 20 years since the genocide in Rwanda when 800,000 people were killed in 100 days, since those dark times the Anglican church has been working to heal the tribal rifts.

Bishop Louis, Bishop of Kigali, Rwanda, visits Romsey Abbey next Tuesday (March 18) to talk about how reconciliation, restoration and rehabilitation has come to the traumatized people of his country.

The church is also actively tackling HIV/Aids and issues of poverty, bringing healing and transformation, and in particular through the “Raising Families” initiative of Samaritan’s Purse, the charity well known locally for Operation Christmas Child.

In 2013, 8,000 shoeboxes were sent to Rwanda from the UK.

The bishop’s talk, entitled “Resurrection of Hope”, begins at 7pm, There will be an opportunity for questions, and tea/coffee will be available.
