A SCHEME to improve facilities at King’s Somborne Village Hall has been given a major cash boost.
Hampshire County Council has awarded hall bosses £20,000 towards work to refurbish the main function room and stage. This includes new lighting and wiring.
Hampshire’s cabinet spokesman for cultural, recreation and countryside, Keith Chapman, said: “Village halls and community associations are a valuable asset in every local area and vital in providing an activity hub that brings together local people of all ages.”
Explaining more about work being carried out at the village, the treasurer Mike Reynolds said: “The main function room is mostly used for concerts, pantomimes and social activities.
HCC’s money will cover about 30 per cent of the £60,000 cost of this phase of work being done at the hall.”
A COFFEE morning in aid of the hall will be held there on Saturday, March 22, from 10am. There will be a bring and buy stall, raffle and lucky dip. Entry is £2 and includes tea or coffee and cake.
