BURGLARS fled after being disturbed by the occupant of a house at Chilworth.

However, police say that the intruders did get away with a quantity of jewellery from the large detached property in Pinelands Road during Saturday’s break-in.

Glass in a rear doors was smashed to entry.

A watch is one item that is known to have been stolen.

Detectives are waiting for a full list of stolen property to be issued by the homeowner before more details can be released.

Romsey-based Inspector Jackie Willson said: “At least two are known to have been involved in the burglary because they were spotted running away from the property by an occupant who returned home at about 11.50am after going out for a short while.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Eastleigh and Romsey CID on 101.
