Two of Romsey's leading music organisations will join forces at Romsey Abbey in a concert to celebrate the wealth of musical talent the town has to offer.

Michelmersh Silver Band, currently enjoying its first year as a National Championship Band, is delighted to play host to the Romsey Youth Choir led by Marion Maxey in the pride of Romsey concert on May 31.

Formed in 2010 by Romsey Abbey School music teacher Marion and her husband and accompanist Chris, the Youth Choir has quickly earned itself a reputation for excellence in performance.

The choir, whose members range in age from 11 to 18, has won awards in many local festivals and is looking forward to touring in Italy this summer.

Band Chairman, Adam Smith said today: “MSB is currently enjoying playing in the very top flight of the brass band movement - something of which the Romsey area can be very proud. In welcoming a local youth organisation to join us in this concert we are offering a chance to celebrate the best of Romsey talent in the wonderful setting of Romsey Abbey - hence the 'Pride of Romsey' concert title. Both organisations are great ambassadors for the area.”

Concert-goers can look forward to a diverse programme from popular film and show themes, to beautiful classical brass arrangements and solo performances.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre, Church Street, Romsey. Tel: 01794 512987
