POLICE will speak to the owners of a Doberman that carried out a vicious, unprovoked attack on a jogger in a Hampshire park.
Officers were keen to speak to the couple whose dog bit the 50-year-old man as he ran with his wife through Ampfield Woods, near Romsey.
The man was shaken up by the incident, which left a cut and bruising on his leg, and decided to call the police.
Investigating officer PC William Nye said: “The owner of the dog has come forward and I have arranged to meet with them to discuss assistance we can give to ensure that this is a one-off incident.”
As previously reported, the man was running about 250 yards from Jermyns Lane between 3.30pm and 4pm on New Year’s Day.
He came up to a couple walking three dogs and as he ran past them a Doberman bit him on the leg.
The couple and the dog will not be punished for the incident.
