Parts of Hampshire have been hit with a covering of snow.

As temperatures dropped overnight snow fell across the county.

The snow has not affected any main or the main roads or public transport.

But the snow, which has fallen across the New Forest, Romsey and North Hampshire, is not expected to last.

The Met Office says that showers will fall as snow initially, then turn occasionally to rain or sleet.

Although they do say that slight accumulations are possible with the maximum temperature expected to rise to 4 degrees centigrade.

Tonight some wintery showers are expected with temperatures falling to minus two.

The Met office has also issued a cold weather alert for the region.

It says: “Cold conditions will persist, with widespread overnight frosts, locally severe, and low daytime temperatures.
