A ROMSEY bank is supporting a charity scheme aimed at ensuring that the young and vulnerable adults get an Easter egg.

Market Place-based NatWest has set up a donation point for chocolate eggs that will be distributed to children, young people and vulnerable adults in the Romsey and North Baddesley areas.

The project is part of Andover Foodbank’s annual scheme to help those in need at Easter.

Bank manager Jon Stacey said: “We’ve got a big box in our hall where customers can leave their Easter eggs which will go to local children. All they’ve got to do is buy a medium size Easter egg and pop it in the box. This is the first time we’ve taken part in this. We want to support and get involved in the local community.”

He added that the Bank has picked three charities – Youth Options, Romsey Amateur Operatic and Drama Society and Romsey Opportunity Group - that it’s considering supporting but it wants people to choose which one.

Coordinator at Romsey Young Careers Mary Ward said the Easter egg scheme is important. “Not just because children love chocolate but because the message that comes with each egg is that people care about each child.”

All the egg donation have to be in by Sunday March 8 to make sure they get to the agencies that will distribute them for Easter.
