A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing.

Police were called to reports of an altercation in Withers Road, Romsey, at about 11.05pm last night.

Two 45-year-old women were taken to Southampton General Hospital with stab wounds and one of them has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

She is currently under police guard at the hospital.

Police say the injuries sustained by both women are not thought to be life-threatening.

A neighbour who lives opposite the victim, went to the bathroom at around 11pm and heard noises outside.

She said: "I looked through the crack in the front room curtain and I saw her.

"She had been stabbed and she was bent over staggering around. 

"Her girlfriend was stood in the doorway with the little girl who was crying. 

"I went back into the bedroom and my boyfriend immediately saw her blood soaked t shirt and realised she'd been hit or stabbed. 

"He spoke to the police and told someone to get a wet towel onto her back. 

"She was on her knees in her agony."

Neighbour Amber Adamou, 24, a sales assistant at WH Smith from Romsey, said: “I was out at the time of the incident but came home to number of police cars down my road.

“I know the incident happened last night but I can’t remember when - it all seems like a blur now."

Hampshire Ambulance service said: “At 11.06pm we sent two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to Romsey and two patients were taken to Southampton General Hospital.”
